How do you get the motivation to lose weight when other people in the house don’t care?
Cookie Diet November 6th, 2009I’m 19 and try to eat healthy in general. I just moved in with my mom (while I’m saving to move out on my own) and she eats & buys the worst foods EVER but always talks about wanting to lose weight because she’s overweight. I normally just try to drink only water, eat only fresh raw vegetables, cream of wheat, salad, fish, etc. She has the fridge PACKED with horrible food and the cabinets packed with brownie mix, she has strawberry cheesecake, cookies, horrible s***. I’m 5’6 and normally weigh 127 lbs but I gained 10 lbs. Now I weigh 135. I’m trying to "diet" (It’s actually just eating healthy for life….) but now especially I’m dieting because I gained weight. This is like the worst environment to be healthy!!!
And THEN I was at my grandma’s house the other day, and EVERYTIME she cooks food she asks if I want some about 10 times. And I’m trying to be nice and respectful to her but it gets on my nerves so bad. So I told her, "can you not offer me food because I’m gaining weight and I’m on a diet" and I was expecting her to be like "oh okay" simple as that. But she goes "What? No! You can’t diet!" It’s like EXCUSE ME? Like no support at all she doesn’t even know what a diet is. And she’s from Texas and that’s where I’m living right now and these people are like stupid and it’s p****** me off. Like ignorant people and I’m trying to eat healthy.
And my grandma even has diabetes and I know why!
How do you have a healthy lifestyle while the people around you don’t support it or don’t care?
