Is using a treadmill the best way to exercise and lose weight?

Also, how do you start out on one? I just brought one a week ago and I am not sure I am doing it right. I don't want to get a heart attack. I am 45 years old and never really exercised before.

It's a great way just don't overwork yourself! Start off slow and hopefully you bought a tread with a calorie counter.
That gets to your head when dieting because you see how much you have to do just to burn 200 calories
