Lose pregnancy weight safely
For many women pregnancy can be seen as an reason to eat what they want, avoid exercising, and relax on the couch a lot more. What is often overlooked is that giving birth will not result in all those extra pounds suddenly disappearing. The average women puts on between twenty five and thirty five pounds as a result of pregnancy and loses about fourteen of them when baby comes along. This leaves up to 20 pounds in additional weight and the purpose of this article is to give you some steps that you can to lose pregnancy weight.
After the birth of a baby, women’s bodies are out of shape and many find it difficult to get a good workout routine going. Getting yourself to take weight loss seriously when you have a little one to look after can be truly daunting. Breastfeeding baby will kick start the weight loss process. Studies have demonstrated that breastfeeding will result in the new mother shedding weight faster than those who don’t. As a side issue breastfeeding is, of course, far better for your baby.
Stage two is to open that refrigerator door and be prepared to be firm with yourself. If you are honest with yourself you know that lurking behind the fruit and veg are some weight generating snacks – throw them out ! You may have eaten too much of the wrong kind of food during your pregnancy but now it’s time to change If you are breastfeeding you will need to be aware of the foods that you eat because these will affect the quality of your milk.
Getting active once more is the third and final part in losing pregnancy weight. Walking is a great exercise and not only is it healthy for you, it’s healthy for your new baby as well. Just thirty minutes each day is all it takes to lose a few pounds. Getting your shape back is important too. You should get into the practice of doing abdominal and pelvic floor exercises on a daily basis. Your baby can actually be part of the routine. Lie on the floor, knees raised, with baby lying against them and do crunches while playing peek-a-boo at the same time. You might not be able to do this with a newborn but once your baby is a little older you can and it’s great fun too.
More information on losing pregnancy weight
In as little as two months, with the correct diet and regular exercise, you could be back to your normal weight. It is very important that you do not try to lose weight after pregnancy by using any kind of starvation or “miracle diet”. These are the kind of diets that will leave you tired and listless. You don’t need to be reminded, I’m sure, that the last thing you need with a newborn is lack of energy. If you are breastfeeding these diets may also affect your milk.
